KUCHING, Aug 2: YTL Power International Berhad and YTL Construction intend to become the ideal investment partners for the Sarawak government in terms of infrastructure construction.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), their managing director Dato Yeoh Seok Hong said Sarawak is on a solid foundation to achieve further development if the construction sector is upgraded through digitalisation.
To this end, YTL is committed to combining their expertise in green power, data center and commercial development to be a major player in Sarawak’s next phase of development.
“We have already established cooperation with the Sarawak government in supplying cement through YTL Cement Berhad before, and now we are waiting and looking for new opportunities with the Sarawak government by becoming partners in another field, namely construction,” Yeoh said.
He said this when met by the media after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at the latter’s office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
Also present were general manager of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Datu Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir, country chief executive of Bureau Veritas Malaysia and Sarawak Datuk Mohd Nizam Abdul Malik and several other dignitaries.
Overall, the meeting highlighted the importance of investments that focus on sustainability and long-term benefits for the people of Sarawak. — DayakDaily
