MIRI, April 23: A 22-year-old man was sentenced to eight years in jail afrer pleading guilty to robbery at the Sessions Court here today.
Syvester Ason Endau from RPR Batu 6 here, admitted to robbing a 42-year-old woman of RM24, two mobile phones (a Vivo and a Samsung A5), the victim’s MyKad and driving license on April 16 in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pujut Corner at 12.02pm.
He was arrested less than 24 hours after the crime was committed.
The loss was estimated to be RM1,500.
Syvester was charged under Section 392 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 14 years and a fine or whipping.
He was unrepresented in court.
Sessions Court judge Steve Ritikos ordered Syvester to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest. — DayakDaily
