MIRI, Feb 6: A 30-year-old man was found hanging — with a heavy-duty chain around his neck — from the veranda of a house in Pujut Corner here at about 11.30pm yesterday.

The victim has been identified only as Raimon, from Kuala Baram.

A neighbour stumbled upon the gruesome find upon returning from a Chinese New Year dinner and immediately alerted the police.

Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol said police and an ambulance immediately rushed to the double-storey wooden house and found Raimon hanging from a heavy-duty chain, which was tied to a beam between the veranda and a room.

“No foul play is suspected in his death,” said Sabri, adding that no other injuries were found on the deceased’s body.

“There were also no signs of burglary or forced entry into the house, and none of the deceased’s belongings was missing.”

The body has been taken to Miri Hospital for an autopsy, and the case has been classified as sudden death. — DayakDaily
