KUCHING, Jan 6: The Sessions Court here fixed February 4 to hear the social welfare report of a teenager who allegedly raped his underaged girlfriend.
The 19-year-old accused pleaded guilty to the charge. However, the Court needs to wait for the Welfare Department report before passing sentence.
Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga fixed Feb 4 to listen to the social welfare report on the accused and allowed him to be released on bail of RM 5,000 with two local sureties.
He was found guilty of a raping 15-year-old girl at an unnumbered house in Kampung Skibang, Bau, between August and September 2020.
He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 20 years and liable to whipping.
According to the brief facts of the case, the victim was informed that she was pregnant when she had her medical examination at Klinik Kesihatan Sebisak on October 15, 2020.
She said the accused promised to take responsibility for her and the baby. Her estimated due date will be in May 2021.
