Youth faces consequences for damaging car windows, smartphone belonging to ex-girlfriend

KUCHING, Feb 7: A local youth who smashed car windows and damaged his ex-girlfriend’s smartphone after a failed attempt to reconcile has been held accountable for his actions.

The accused, a 20-year-old man from Kampung Spaoh, Simunjan, pleaded guilty to two charges under Section 427 of the Penal Code.


Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan ordered the accused to undergo a 12 month good behaviour bond, with the bond set at RM1,000 and a surety after hearing a social report from the Department of Social Welfare today.

According to both charges, he was accused of committing mischief by breaking the front mirror and door of the car and damaging a smartphone belonging to a 23-year-old female victim.

The total loss suffered by the victim is approximately RM1,050.

He committed the offense at Level 3, Kuching International Airport, on Jan 2 and 3, between 3.30am and 11.30pm.

The prosecution was handled by Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer. — DayakDaily
