SIBU, April 15: A 22-year-old man has been arrested for threatening to injure his mother and damaging furniture yesterday.

The suspect, according to Sibu deputy police chief Supt Collin Babat, had gone berserk after his mother declined to break fast with him.

At about 1pm yesterday, the complainant, 58, was at home in Jalan Circular when he suddenly broke a table and chair resulting in a loss of RM500.

“The suspect admitted that his mother had refused to break fast with him early in the morning. This caused him to damage the house furniture. He had also threatened to hurt her,” he said.

The suspect was arrested after the woman lodged a police report.

He had been remanded for three days to facilitate investigation under Section 506 and 427 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
