KUCHING, Aug 3: Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) lauded two young Sarawakian entrepreneurs for captivating audiences on precision agriculture and blockchain technologies during the Malaysian International Food & Beverage (MIFB) Trade Fair held recently at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from July 12 to 14.
SDEC, in a statement, said that the two experts and speakers invited to the event were agriculture and cloud farming innovator Airgro founder Kenneth Chai and Sinisana Technologies co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Jonah Lau.
Chai captivated the audience with his presentation titled “Growing More with Less Through Precision Agriculture”, and shared about Airgro’s journey of developing an eco-friendly system known as the Climate Chamber for Growing Imported Crops.
He explained that through their innovative solution, Airgro demonstrated how the power of technology and precision farming techniques can enable sustainable agriculture while optimising resources.
Chai also highlighted the support he received from SDEC and their Centre of Excellence (CoE) Testbed space, which played a vital role in the development and prototyping of Airgro’s pioneering system.
Meanwhile, Lau shed light on the transformative impact of blockchain technology in the supply chain sector.
Lau used his session to emphasise how blockchain has become a game-changer, ensuring transparency, security, and efficiency in supply chain processes.
He also shared insights into how Sinisana Technologies benefited from the support of SDEC’s Digital Village Accelerator (DiVA) Programme, which has been instrumental in empowering Sarawakian tech start-ups.
The statement went on to say that the participation of these young Sarawakian entrepreneurs at MIFB 2023 exemplifies the region’s growing prominence in the innovation and entrepreneurial landscape.
SDEC’s Head of the Department of Research and Product Development Dr Khairul Hafiz Sharkawi believed that Sarawak has tremendous untapped potential in driving innovation and technology.
“The achievements of Airgro and Sinisana Technologies highlight the strides being made in Sarawak Digital & Innovation Ecosystem, which is a catalytic initiative of our Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) and serve as an inspiration for aspiring inventors and entrepreneurs,” he said.
The trade fair provides a platform for industry players to exchange ideas, showcase cutting-edge products, and foster collaboration among key stakeholders in the food and beverage sector from across Malaysia. — DayakDaily
