MIRI, Nov 6: Tamu Maigold in Desa Senadin is now open to the public, with 64 local hawkers selling a variety of local produces.
On Thursday (Nov 5) morning, Minister for Transport Sarawak, Datuk Lee Kim Shin accompanied by Miri Mayor Adam Yii visited the site.
“We want local hawkers to have a safe place and a proper trading site to do their business, and I believe that this is the ideal place for them,” Yii said.
He added, the most important thing is those illegal hawkers can apply for a permit and also can do their trading at Tamu Maigold here.
“So there is no need to fear being evicted. With the setting up of this Tamu they can hawk legally unlike before where they had to trade under the sun and even during downpours,” said Yii.
He also reminded hawkers and the public to always adhere to the standard operating procedure (SOP) in order to curb Covid-19 infections. – DayakDaily
