SERIAN, Sept 9: Yayasan Sarawak’s Education Committee has been tasked with helping with the teaching manpower for the international schools in the State.

Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the committee would look into preparation for the five International schools, which are expected to start operating within the next five years.

“For International schools, the State will have five and one in Petra Jaya is already operating using the Tunku Putra building.

“We are building one in Semenggok, and the others in Sibu, Bintulu and Miri, and for the teaching manpower for all these schools, the Education committee in Yayasan Sarawak is looking into this matter,” Sagah told reporters today after officiating at the opening of the Education and Career Fair 2022 at Tapah community hall.

Present at the function were Deputy Minister of Plantations Industries and Commodities Datuk Willie Mongin, Deputy Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Martin Ben, Permanent Secretary to Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datu Kameri Affandi and acting Siburan district officer Ranum Bari.

Sagah added that the school operating at Tunku Putra has about 129 students.

Meanwhile, in his speech, Sagah said many graduates could not find employment after graduation due to mismatch of the courses they take.

On this, he said his ministry was working towards rectifying such problems.

He also said that the ministry will also organise similar education fairs in other divisions to expose students, youths and parents on the the various courses offered by public institutions, and technical and skill centres. — DayakDaily
