KUCHING, Jan 13: Scholarships and education loans provided by Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation) are not limited to Bumiputera students but are open to all Sarawakian students who excel academically.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Sarawak Foundation Board of Trustees member, Datuk Richard Wee Liang Kiat, emphasised the need to change the perception that these financial aids are exclusively for Bumiputera students, ensuring that all eligible students benefit.

“I want to stress that all scholarships and student loans are awarded based on academic achievements.

“Regardless of background, what matters is academic performance. This assistance is for all Sarawakians, no matter who you are,” he said during the Sarawak Foundation’s Engagement Session with Chinese Independent Schools in Kuching, Kota Samarahan, and Serian Divisions, held at the Yayasan Sarawak building today.

He also noted the importance of parents, teachers, and students understanding the details of available financial assistance.

He further announced that similar engagement sessions will be conducted in other regions, such as Sibu and Miri, to provide more insights into the financial assistance programs offered by Yayasan Sarawak.

“We will extend these efforts to Chinese schools in those areas to enhance their understanding of the programs provided by Sarawak Foundation,” he said. – DayakDaily
