KUCHING, Oct 7: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa branch chairman Wilfred Yap is urging the Federal government to take immediate action against individuals who make provocative statements to further their political or religious goals.

Yap’s comments came following a one minute video which went viral, in which an individual was seen making degrading remarks about non-Muslim faiths and the Dayak community.

Yap hoped the current government will ensure no minority group or community would experience any discrimination.

At the same time, Yap hoped the current government would represent the diversity of the people in Malaysia by implementing fair and effective legislation to shape a positive and inclusive future for all the diverse communities of the country.

“It is hoped that this government will continue to promote the essential values of mutual respect, dialogue and compromise to prevent our societies being increasingly polarised and divided,” he said in a statement today.

On another matter, Yap, who is also SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief (SUPP PCB), said a burst water pipe located along Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli has been repaired after a complain was received on the matter.

He said SUPP PCB is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone facing problems but does not know how to deal with it.

For assistance, contact SUPP PCB’s mobile number at 016-7797688 or 082-246999 or visit SUPP’s head office to request for assistance. — DayakDaily
