SIBU, June 17: The 17-year-old teen who broke into a kindergarten in Tanjung Manis and tried to grab nine pupils has been tested positive for the drug syabu.
Sarikei District Police Chief Superintendent Awang Arfian Awang Bujang said today that a urine test conducted on the suspect has confirmed that he under the influence of the drug during the incident.
“We will file charges in court against the suspect once the investigation is completed,” he said.
The suspect has been remanded for four days until June 18.
“The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and damage to property and Section 323 of the same Code for voluntarily causing injury,” he said.
In the 8.20am incident on June 12, the suspect had tried to enter the classroom before he was prevented from doing so by the teacher on duty.
The suspect then broke the glass window and climbed into the classroom, where he had tried once again to grab the pupils before he was stopped by the teacher, who sustained injuries to her hands, legs and body in the process.
He was later caught by the kindergarten’s security guard before being handed over to the Tanjung Manis police. — DayakDaily
