KUCHING, July 29: The Works Ministry announced in Parliament that its ‘zero potholes’ target for all roads in Sarawak under its maintenance started June 2020.

Deputy Works Minister Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith said the development of roads, especially those involving peat land areas in Sarawak will be in accordance with the specifications and standards set.

“The zero potholes target in Sarawak and Sabah was only set after Perikatan Nasional (PN) took over from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) as Federal government.

“Previously, such target set only applied to areas in the Peninsula,” he explained, while answering MP Tanjong Manis Yusuf Abd Wahab in Parliament, today.

Meanwhile, Eddin added that the Works Ministry regularly conducted studies to ensure that the quality of roads built involving peat lands is on par with the target and standards set by government.—DayakDaily
