KUCHING, Jan 5: Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has given his assurance that he is working together with Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, who is also State Minister of Works, to ensure smooth implementation of projects in Sarawak.

Nanta said both of them are looking into projects undertaken by state or federal Public Works Department (JKR) are implemented properly according to priority.

“So the word out there saying that both of us are not cooperating are not true,” he said.

Nanta said this in respond to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen who criticised the seemingly lacking cooperation between Nanta and Uggah to efficiently and effectively address traffic management and construction site issues along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway.

Meanwhile, Nanta reiterated that the road upgrading works along Kuching-Samarahan Expressway are implemented by JKR Sarawak and the federal JKR has no jurisdiction over the matter.

“Both of us (Nanta and Uggah) are not only monitoring the implementation of the projects, but also in discussion in terms of what to be implemented in the future,” he added. — DayakDaily
