KUCHING, Feb 24: The Phase 1 road project connecting Nanga Menuan to Nanga Setepus has been successfully completed, announced Federal Minister of Works, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
The project, spanning 9.35 kilometers and costing RM50 million, also includes the construction of two bridges linking Nanga Menuan to Rh Jengging.
Nanta emphasised that the allocation for this project was provided by the Sarawak government, reflecting the it’s commitment under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“It will benefit residents from 10 longhouses and students in nearby school with seven newly constructed connectivity road,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nanta, who is also Kapit MP hope the State government would consider and approve the allocation for the Phase 2 project involving a six kilometer road, which will complete the road connection directly to Nanga Setepus.
According to him, he was made to understand that the road plan for Phase 2 has been completed while the land acquisition and compensation payments have also been done.
He added that the construction of Phase 2 would benefit an additional six longhouses and one other school. – DayakDaily
