KUCHING, Aug 22: Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi was happy to note that local companies have embarked on the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiative.
“ESG is a global movement to enhance the concept of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which is a universal call for action adopted by the United Nations (UN) in 2015.
“SDG aims at ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring that by 2030, all people can enjoy peace and prosperity.
“As the global major companies now are all geared towards ESG, I’m happy to note that local companies have also embarked on this initiative in a serious manner,” he said in his Facebook post today.
He added that during the launch of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) Convention 2023 at Menara MATRADE in Kuala Lumpur today, he highlighted the initiative of the Works Ministry (KKR) in ensuring the implementation of efficient governance as the best way forward in providing excellent services to the public in general and major stakeholders in particular.
Nanta said that four strategic plans under the ministry have been implemented since 2021.
In one way or another, the strategic plans contain elements of ESG in fulfilling the global aspiration for a greener planet.
The strategic plans are the KKR Organisation Strategic Plan 2021-2025, the KKR Digitalisation Strategic Plan 2021-2025, the KKR Anti-Corruption Strategic Plan 2021-2025 and the KKR Asset Management (Operations) Strategic Plan 2022-2026. — DayakDaily
