KUCHING, July 9: Minister of Works Baru Bian is glad that Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg was willing to put aside political differences in order to work with him to develop the state.

During a courtesy call on the chief minister at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex this afternoon, Baru, who is also Sarawak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) chairman, highlighted several issues pertaining to his ministry that could affect Sarawak.

“The chief minister is very open and gave us assurance that they [Sarawak government] are prepared to work with us [Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government] as well. That is a very good spirit, I think, which we need.

Baru said issues that could impact Sarawak included infrastructure development, schools and hospitals, and he had brought them to the attention of Abang Johari.

“These are the areas of concern for a lot of Sarawakians. You all know that my colleagues and I in PH have been raising all issues pertaining to these areas [over the years],” said Baru. — DayakDaily
