KUCHING, Feb 12: Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi will undergo knee surgery by April this year.

He told DayakDaily that he had a fall in 1998 where he had to be operated on at Normah Medical Specialist Centre.

“For the first 15 years, it was alright, and then it started to hurt every now and then.

“And recently, after I walked a lot in the last two weeks, it (knee) became swollen in the last few days.

“Following an examination at Kuala Lumpur Hospital five days ago, I am going for an operation sometime in late March or early April,” he said when contacted today.

Nanta said the injury involved damage to his knee ligament and cartilage.

DayakDaily has called in to check Nanta’s condition after Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato Sri Nancy Shukri shared a photo on Facebook of her crossing paths with several other Sarawakian MPs at an airport today.

In the group photo, Nanta was sitting in a wheelchair surrounded by others, including Nancy, who is Santubong MP, Limbang MP Datuk Hasbi Habibollah and Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) as well as Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen of Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak.

Nancy, in her caption, said, “Flying to Kuala Lumpur this morning for Parliament session tomorrow. One (photo) with the Sarawak MPs on my flight.” — DayakDaily
