Workplace clusters at Jln Sultan Tengah, Jln Ong Tiang Swee log 58 new Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, Nov 4: Two new workplace Covid-19 clusters have been identified today, involving an institution at Jalan Sultan Tengah and a construction plant at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee with a total of 58 positive cases confirmed.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its latest updates on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that the Jalan Sultan Tengah Cluster at Rampangi here detected 24 cases including the index case.

The cases stemmed from workers and students of a training institution.

A total of 58 individuals have been screened, with the remaining 34 have tested negative and no lab test results pending.

The Jalan Ong Tiang Swee Cluster, which involved workers of a construction plant, recorded 34 cases including the index case.

A total of 36 individuals have been screened, with the remaining two have tested negative and no lab test results pending.

All positive cases from these two clusters have been referred to either the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), ) or the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) or the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) Kuching for treatment and quarantine.

SDMC has also declared the end of two clusters namely Kampung Bunga in Serian and Batu 13 Jalan Puncak Borneo in Kuching, after no new local cases were reported in the past 28 days.

The remaining 25 existing active clusters also did not record any new cases.

With that, the number of active clusters in Sarawak now stands at 27. — DayakDaily
