MUKAH, Aug 22: An abandoned workers’ quarters at Jalan Petian has been destroyed by fire.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) was called to the scene at 3.34pm after a witness reported seeing bush fire along the road.
Seven firefighters from Mukah station led by Nasir Drahman rushed to the scene.
A prime mover water tanker was also despatched because Bomba was aware that there is no accessible source of water nor fire hydrants on site.
However, upon arrival, instead of bush fire, firefighters saw a block of abandoned workers’ quarters measuring about 60m x 18m fully ablaze.
They quickly worked to contain the fire and it was brought fully under control by 3.58pm.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation. — DayakDaily
