KUCHING, Feb 12: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has called on the Chinese community to work together with the government to formulate good policies that could weather the Covid-19 pandemic and to rebuild the battered economy.
He said this when he participated in the Chinese New Year celebration virtually, an event which was organised by Sarawak United Peoplesā Party (SUPP) this morning.
Abang Johari and his wife, Datuk Amar Jumaāani Tun Tuanku Bujang then mixed the “Yee Sang” virtually to symbolise the Chinese New Year celebration.
In Chinese, the word “Yee” means fish which also carries another meaning which is eternal wealth. The word “Sang” refers to raw and also has another meaning, namely life and resurrection. In short, this Yee Sang dish symbolises abundance and longevity.
Participating in the virtual Chinese New Year celebration were the Minister of Housing and Local Governmentt Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and several other dignitaries. ā DayakDaily
