Work on flood mitigation project at Jalan Sentosa expected to begin in second half of 2023

SIBU, March 28: Construction on flood mitigation project in Kampung Usaha Jaya Baru in Jalan Sentosa, Salim here is expected to start in the second half of this year.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek hopes that the project could end the flash flood issue in the area.

“The tender process has been carried out. Now we are waiting for Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) to choose which contractor will be responsible for this project.


“I hope this project can begin as soon as possible,” he said during a kurma (dates) distribution ceremony at Al-Muhajirin Mosque in Kampung Usahajaya Baru here on Sunday (March 26).

He also promised to allocate grants under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the maintenance of the mosque every year.

On RTP projects in the area, he said he had allocated RM300,000 for road upgrading work and RM300,000 for drain maintenance last year. — DayakDaily
