KUCHING, Oct 23: The winner of the Association of Sarawak Inbound Agencies (ASIA)’s ‘Take Selfie and Win a Trip to Mulu’ social media contest is Wong Siew Yuan.

She walks away with return business class tickets for two on a MASWing flight from Kuching to Mulu, with three-day-two-night accommodation at Mulu Marriot Resort & Spa.

The contest was held during the 17th Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival 2018 (17KIMF), organised by The Federation of Kuching Division Community Associations.

The festival, held from Sept 17-24, took place along Carpenter Street, including China Street and Ewe Hai Street, and it attracted well over 200,000 visitors.

More than 50 locals and visitors participated in the contest, resulting in 5,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook and Instagram posts with the ASIA’s hashtag “#SarawakMuchMore”.

ASIA members are in the business of bringing visitors into Sarawak. Their main aim is to promote, to locals and visitors alike, Sarawak’s spectacular attractions and activities, many of which remain largely undiscovered or have been overlooked.

For this campaign, ASIA uses the tagline “Sarawak … so much more to discover” to generate greater interest in Sarawak as a tourism destination.

Visitors to ASIA’s booth at the festival could also enter a simple competition to win attractive daily prizes. More than 70 daily lucky draw prizes, including tour and activity packages, entrance tickets, flight tickets, hotel rooms and local speciality products were given out during the eight-night spectacle.

One of ASIA 2018’s initiatives is to promote attractions around Miri and Sibu to Kuching residents, and to remind Kuchingites of the many local activities that are available.

Other tourism partners in ASIA include airlines, hotels, destination management companies as well as regional tourism boards.

ASIA thanked the participants of its online contest as well as its main sponsors Sarawak Tourism Board, MasWings and Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa, and their daily lucky draw sponsors from Kuching (Brooke Gallery & The Ranee Exhibition, Paradesa Borneo, Matahari Tour, Borneo Adventure, Semadang Kayak, Bayan Atuh Ecotourism Zone, MyEasyMoment.com and KGM), Sibu (Greatown Travel, Tanamas Hotel Sibu, TYC Goat Farm, Poh Guan Hong, Zen Don Bin, The Kitchen Food) and Miri (CoCoDive, Brighton Travel & Tour) for making this event a great success. — DayakDaily
