Woman who hurt mother to be confined in psychiatric hospital

KUCHING, June 24: The Sessions Court here made an order under section 344(2) of Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) on a 22-year-old woman who allegedly hurt her mother with a knife to be confined in a psychiatric hospital.

Sessions Court Judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad said that the court had received a letter from the Governor’s office dated May 29, 2020 that the accused is to be confined in a psychiatric hospital under Section 344(2) of the CPC.


The accused was proved to have schizophrenia after being observed for a month in Hospital Sentosa.

Cindy Leong Yu Tin, allegedly hurt her mother with a knife at their house located in Taman Sentah, Mile 18, in the morning on November 6, 2019.

She was arrested by police on Nov 6, 2019, at about 6.30 pm in front of Boulevard Shopping Mall Pizza Hut.
