Woman who allegedly stabbed mother remanded for six days

KUCHING, Nov 7: A 20-year-old woman suspected of injuring her mother with a meat chopper at Siburan yesterday, has been remanded for six days to facilitate investigations.

The remand order for the suspect was obtained today.


The police arrested the suspect around 6.30pm at Boulevard Shopping Mall here. According to the public, she was seen loitering in front of a supermarket since 10am and did not go elsewhere until she was arrested.

It was reported that the suspect, who was mentally ill, had allegedly stabbed and slashed her mother. She had thrown the cleaver into a trash can and fled the scene, leaving her mother seriously injured on the floor.

Only the suspect and the victim, who is in her 40s, were at home during the incident. The latter’s husband was away at work.

According to the fact of the case, the suspect was quarrelling with her mother at their house in Taman Sentah, Mile 18, in the morning of Nov 6.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
