Woman swears at pharmacy staff for telling her to wear facemask

SIBU, Oct 6: A woman here paid the price for not wearing a face mask after she was issued with a RM1, 000 compound for the offence during this Recovery Movement Control Order.

A video that has gone viral showed the woman shouting at staff of the pharmacy when she was asked to put on a face mask. She could be heard speaking profanity at staff.

Sibu District Police Chief , ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said based on the video, the police at 2.30pm on Monday (October 5) conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of the 48-year-old woman.


He said the incident happened at about 4.30pm on October 4 at a pharmacy in Jalan Kampung Nyabor.

“From our investigation on the woman, she said she became agitated when a staff of the pharmacy called her auntie when he asked her to wear a face mask. She also revealed that she had insomnia,” he added.

Stanley said during the investigation, the woman would suddenly raise her voice and also laughed by herself.

“She does not have any criminal record but has previously lodged numerous reports on quarreling and fighting, ” he added. ā€” DayakDaily
