Woman suffers broken leg after 4WD crashes into roadside drain along Pan Borneo Highway in Serian

SERIAN, Sept 16: A 55-year-old woman suffered a broken leg after the four-wheel-drive vehicle she was travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a roadside drain at Kampung Ensebang Padang Billion along Jalan Pan Borneo Simunjan–Serian yesterday evening (Sept 15).

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the incident occurred at 5.33pm and involved a Mitsubishi Triton with two occupants on board.

The driver, a 63-year-old man, escaped unhurt while the passenger, a 55-year-old woman, sustained injuries to her left leg.

A team of eight firefighters from Serian fire station led by PBK I Rosnani anak Malong rushed to the scene after receiving the emergency call and arrived at 6.07pm.

“Firefighters carried out operations to extricate the victims trapped inside the vehicle.

“The driver was later transported by Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) Serian, while the injured passenger was taken to Serian Hospital by a Health Ministry ambulance,” Bomba said in a statement.

The operation concluded at 6.33pm after firefighters ensured the area was safe and under control before returning to the station.

The operation involved one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), one EMRS unit, police, and Health Ministry personnel. — DayakDaily
