Woman, nephew detained for drug possession in Miri

MIRI, March 20: Officers from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) have arrested a woman and her nephew for suspected drugs possession at a hotel here.

The suspects, both locals aged 28 and 38, were apprehended by the police during an operation at around 10.50am. The duo were found with the drugs in a room at the hotel situated at Bintulu-Miri road.


“Upon inspection, police found 18 transparent plastic packets containing suspected illegal substance, methamphetamine, inside a sling bag weighing at 11.11g worth around RM1,600,” the department said.

Both suspects were unemployed and were tested positive for methamphetamine.

They are currently being detained under police custody at Miri Central police station (CPS) to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
