SIBU, May 16: A woman was duped of RM31,879 in an online job scam.
Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said on May 12, the police received a report from a woman who claimed to be a victim of an online job scam on social media.
“The victim was attracted to the scheme where she was promised 0.6 per cent commission for every purchase of over 60 items,” he said.
However, in order to claim the commission, she had to make payment to an account provided.
“She realised that she has been cheated as after making payment totalling RM31, 879, she still did not receive the commission,” he added.
Zulkipli advised the public not to be easily hoodwinked by such scams.
The public is also advised to check the authenticity of any scheme at https://semakmule.rmp.gov.my or contact the CCID info line at 0132111222. — DayakDaily
