SARIKEI, Oct 16: A woman was killed after the four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle that she was in collided with a lorry near SMK Sungai Paoh here last night (Oct 15).
According to a report by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a team from Sarikei Fire Station (BBP) was despatched to the location after receiving the distress call at 11.39pm.
Upon arrival at the scene about 15 minutes later, the Bomba reported that there were five victims in the 4WD including an unconscious woman trapped in the front passenger seat.
“The Bomba team extricated the victim from the vehicle and she was pronounced dead by the medic at the scene before her body was handed over to the police for further action.
“The other four victims who sustained minor injuries were rushed to Sarikei Hospital,” it said.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver, 43, and a passenger, 27, were unharmed.
The firefighters proceeded to conduct a flushing exercise at the scene until 12.43am before returning to their station. — DayakDaily
