KUCHING, Oct 21: A woman was killed in an accident that occurred along the Jalan Kuching-Samarahan Expressway near the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) traffic light today.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 9.30am, and firefighters from the Kota Samarahan station were deployed.
Upon arrival, it was noted a motorcycle had completely burnt due to the accident which also involved a Proton Saga.
One adult female, the driver of the Proton Saga, sustained injuries. Two victims from the motorcycle—one adult male and one adult female—were also involved.
The male victim suffered injuries, while the female was pronounced dead by Ministry of Health personnel after being thrown under a lorry and dragged approximately 40 metres.
Firefighters carried out road-cleaning works, and no firefighting operation was required as the fire had already been extinguished by members of the public using water from a construction company’s water tanker.
The injured victims were transported to the hospital by ambulance for further treatment, while the deceased was handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
