BETONG, Dec 20: A 24-year-old woman sustained facial injuries after a fallen tree crushed her Proton Saga along Jalan Bengang Kampung Asam in Betong today.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received the emergency call at 6.57pm and dispatched a team from the Betong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Betong), arriving at the scene 10 minutes later.
According to the operations commander, Jusmandie Jamaie, the fallen tree had trapped the victim inside her car.
Rescue efforts were carried out in coordination with the Civil Defence Force (APM), which was already at the scene when Bomba arrived.
The victim was extricated and transported to Betong Hospital via an APM ambulance for medical treatment.
Firefighters then proceeded to cut and clear the fallen tree, ensuring the area was safe before concluding the operation at 7.43pm. — DayakDaily
