KUCHING, Feb 7: A 36-year-old local woman was found dead in a rented room in a shophouse along Jalan Batu Kawa, in what police are investigating as a murder.
Padawan District Police Chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said officers from Batu Kawa Police Station received a report at 2.16pm yesterday (Feb 6) about an unconscious woman inside the room.
“Upon arrival, investigators from the Padawan District Police Criminal Investigation Department discovered the victim lying face down on a mattress with a piece of fabric wrapped around her neck.
“A medical officer at the scene confirmed that she had passed away,” he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated as a homicide under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
