KUCHING, March 22: A woman was evacuated from Rh Ambrose Ramping in Selangau this morning after floodwaters surged to nearly 10 feet, as the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) continues extensive rescue operations across the state.
According to Bomba, they received the emergency call at 9am, and a team from the Selangau Fire Station arrived at the scene within minutes.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the water level dangerously high, reaching close to the longhouse’s veranda.
“Using a rescue boat, a team of seven firefighters, assisted by two additional personnel, successfully evacuated the woman,” Bomba reported.
She was transported to the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Dewan Serbaguna Selangau.
Meanwhile, in Kanowit, three people were evacuated this morning after floodwaters rose to two meters.

In Song, a total of 58 people were evacuated from four flood-hit areas yesterday after rising waters threatened their safety.
