KUCHING, Feb 10: A woman believed to have attempted suicide by consuming half litre of herbicide has died at Sri Aman Hospital.
It was understood that the deceased, 60, was suffering from depression but refused to go for treatment at the hospital.
According to the police, the incident happened at around 10.30am. The deceased’s son, who lodged the report, said the father called for help after trying to stop the victim from consuming herbicide.
“The deceased’s husband managed to knock the herbicide bottle off the victim but some of the liquid hit him in the face and mouth in the process.
“The husband proceeded to force the deceased to vomit the herbicide and they rushed the victim to the hospital,” the statement said.
She was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the hospital at around 3pm.
At press time, the husband was still being treated at the hospital but expected to be released as he was not suffering any poisoning.
The son claimed that the victim had attempted to commit suicide in the past by consuming bleach but he managed to stop the deceased.
