BINTANGOR, Jan 2: Two of three suspects on the run after robbing a helpless 61-year-old woman of her belongings have been arrested.

Bintangor District Police chief, DSP Sekam Anoi said the arrest of two of the suspects, a 50-year old man and a 45-year old woman, was made in Sibujaya three days after the crime.

Sekam said that at about 11am on Dec 28, the 61-year old victim was in the backlane of a bank here when three persons – two men and a woman – showed up.

“The suspects asked for her hands to carry their belongings to their car. As she was carrying one of their belongings, they pushed her into the car,” he said.

Sekam said the victim, who is from Rumah Ngadi Sungai Strass, believed that she was under their spell as when she was pushed into the car, she lost her senses and surrendered all her things which were in her slingbag to them.

Among the items were a gold earring, a gold necklace, a gold bracelet, RM150, a welfare aid card, identity card, a handphone and ATM cards.

Following a report lodged by the victim, police launched a manhunt for the suspects.

At about 9.30am on Dec 31, a police team from the Bintangor station managed to trace the suspects to Sibujaya where they arrested them.

The third suspect is still at large.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery. ā€”DayakDaily
