MIRI, March 27: A mother and her son were injured after they fell victim to a snatch thief in front of a secondary school at Jalan Dato Temenggong Lawai Jau earlier this afternoon.
The incident occurred when the thief, riding a yellow motorcycle, pulled up next to the women and her son who were in a pickup truck parked by the roadside near the school. The thief smashed the passenger side window and attempted to steal the mother’s purse, resulting in a struggle that left both victims with injuries.
During the incident, the boy’s cheek was injured by a folding knife wielded by the perpetrator.
The thief managed to flee the scene with a handphone and the purse.
The sudden incident left passersby in a state of shock and disbelief.
The police have been notified and are currently investigating the matter. — DayakDaily
