KANOWIT, Nov 20: A 29-year-old woman was among the five individuals arrested for their alleged involvement in an illegal cockfighting session today.
Kanowit district police chief DSP Tega Bilong said at about 1.05pm, a police team went to a small oil palm estate at Jalan Maong, Machan to conduct a raid.
“When the team arrived at the scene, a group of people ran off upon noticing the police. The team then pursued after them and managed to arrest five persons,” he said.
The other four suspects were aged between 18 and 27. The arrest was made under Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals 1952.
The police also seized a live rooster as well as two dead ones, RM150, and two cockfighting spurs.
