Willie Mongin’s membership application didn’t get special treatment, says PBB Youth chief

KUCHING, Aug 7: Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin’s application to join Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) was screened in the same way as any other applicant’s, says the party’s Youth chief Miro Simuh.

He said anyone, as long as they are Bumiputera of Sarawak, may apply to join the party and it is the prerogative of the party’s Supreme Council Working Committee and Secretariat whether accept the applications.

Thus, the party has made its decision and accepted Willie without any commitments and conditions, making him an ordinary member.

“Everyone is treated as equal based on the application and the applicant must follow the correct procedure that have been set by the party.

“The process to become a member must start at the party’s sub-branch level and (the application) is submitted to the Branch/’Cawangan’ level where it will be discussed during the Branch’s meeting, before it is sent to PBB Headquarters Secretariat for endorsement.

“So anybody who wishes to join the party must adhere to the system and procedure that has been stated by the party. And no privilege is granted to anyone to go beyond it,” he said in a statement today.

Miro who is also the Serembu assemblyman also said that anyone who has been accepted to join as a member, must understand the party’s constitution well and guided to be a loyal and trusted member.

On Aug 6, PBB president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during a press conference at PBB headquarters announced that has been accepted as a member of the party without any condition.

Willie won the Puncak Borneo seat under a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket in the 2018 General Election.
