KUCHING, Oct 25: Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) opines that it wants nothing less than the posts of finance and defence ministers to go to Sarawak and Sabah, respectively.

Its president Lina Soo said this in response to calls for a deputy prime minister (DPM) post to be given to Sarawak or Sabah.

“What for DPM? Just to be flower vases in Parliament in an already over-bloated Cabinet, which is a drain on taxpayers’ money? Why should taxpayers give gaji buta (salary or reward given to someone who does very little work to almost nothing) to meaningless portfolios?

“The Cabinet believes Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) take Sarawakians and Sabahans for fools? Just pretend to give us sweets to keep us quiet when election comes?

“Aspirasi wants nothing less than finance minister post for Sarawak and defence minister (post) for Sabah,” she said in a statement today.

On her reasoning for the defence minister post to go to Sabah, she said only Sabah has ever been invaded — referring to the Sulu intrusion into Sabah in 2013 — and believes that it is possible to find a “talented, clean, and competent Sabahan who can do a better job than caretaker Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and former Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu. — DayakDaily
