MIRI, Aug 4:  Dato Richard Wee has won the presidential post of Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations (SFCA) today unopposed.

Leading Sarawak’s highest Chinese guild association with Wee as Deputy president is Dato Wong King Hoong from Limbang.

The election was held in Miri.

Wee said he contested for the post because the management committee of the Federation of Chinese Association of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions of which Wee is the president, had passed the resolution for him to contest for the post.

It was the hope of the management committee of the Federation of Chinese Association of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions that through Wee, there will be more efforts in enhancing inner-cultural interactions to protect the harmony as well as to strengthen the integration between different ethnic groups in Sarawak.

Wee who agreed with the decision and the vision of his committee said he would see to it that there will be more integration between different ethnic groups within Sarawak under his leadership.

“I promise you that SFCA will have increasing number of activities and functions where we will work together with other associations and NGOs of other ethnicity.”

“There should be more integration between NGOs and guild associations of similar nature chaired by leaders of different races.

“Sarawak is already a place of great racial integration.  But we want to go one step further and to encourage working together in all areas especially in business development,” Wee told DayakDaily. — DayakDaily
