KUCHING, Jan 12: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng has mucked in with two motorcycle riders at Bampfylde Road here to clear fallen tree branches that were blocking the traffic.

He said he was passing by the area when he saw two men, Nik and Nasrul, trying to move bits of the branches to the side of the road, despite the drizzle.

“When I saw that, I immediately got out of the car to help, and also notified officers from DBKU (Kuching North City Hall) to deal with the issue as soon as possible.

“After a simple cleanup of the road and made sure vehicles were able to pass, I expressed special thanks to these two passionate young men for their help,”Ā he said in a social post today.

Traffic flow back to normal after blockade was removed.

To anyone also encountering fallen trees on roads in the Kuching South City area, Wee urged them to send Whatsapp messages to 016-8796441 for immediate actions from his council.

He also reminded all road users to be extra careful while driving on slippery roads during this rainy season.

“Safety first. Nothing is more important than protecting the lives of citizens,” he added. ā€” Dayakdaily
