KUCHING, April 9: Believing that the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) is a very meaningful initiative, Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations president Dato Richard Wee hopes to see the initiative being taken up a notch to become a symbol of Sarawakian pride.
Being a card holder himself, Wee foresaw that if the initiative was to be expanded, it would become a card that senior citizens will be proud to use and a “privilege” to own.
“It is a very good idea and a good initiative that needs to be further enhanced and popularised.
“I hope more merchants will sign up and participate in the initiative. For example, more private clinics.
“If it is possible, it would be good that not only more merchants in Sarawak can participate, but extended all the way to merchants in Peninsular Malaysia,” said Wee.
He held that apart from monetary returns and discounts, KGC could also provided other benefits for cardholders, such as a royalty programme and privilege arrangement.
These privileges, he suggested, may include priority given to cardholders when visiting the general hospital or other government departments or councils.
“For example, KGC cardholders may be allowed to use the fast lane in the general hospital or local councils when paying bills so that they do not have to wait like the rest.
“The authorities may consider taking it further by making arrangements with all banks in Sarawak where cardholders may enjoy fast lane services.
“An arrangement can also be made with airline companies to give them the privilege to board and alight first. These little things make a big difference and go a long way for the KGC initiative,” said Wee. — DayakDaily
