KUCHING, Dec 15: Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) has been alerted about the faulty drain cover at Tabuan Road which had resulted in Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) president Lina Soo sustaining injuries after falling through it while putting up campaign flags along the stretch of road.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng was alerted of the issue following news reports of Soo’s fall and call for immediate repairs to be carried out.

“The drain cover is not under MBKS’ jurisdiction but under DBKU. I have passed the complaint on to DBKU.

“I will follow up on the matter to make sure prompt actions have been taken,” he said, giving his assurance during an online press conference today.

He also wished for Soo’s speedy recovery and sent his best wishes to her for the 12th Sarawak Election, of which polling day is this Sat, Dec 18.

Wee urges for a stop to vandalism of election billboards of candidates.

Wee, who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for N9 Padungan, also called for a stop to vandalism of election billboards.

“I have discovered that one of my billboards in the city was not splattered with paint this time but some kind of liquid like Milo.

“Unfortunately my friend Raymond Thong of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) (another contender for the Padungan seat) also suffered the same fate with his billboard photo defaced.

“Please don’t do this anymore. It is not nice. It is just a billboard. Please be more mature,” he added.

Meanwhile, Wee is making his debut in Padungan in this coming election in an attempt to wrest the seat which has been the stronghold of Democratic Action Party (DAP) since 2011.
