SPAOH, March 11: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the people of Spaoh believed Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will be able to deliver all the promises made to the people here.
“We are all for you. We will not let you stand alone. We will give you our full support as you have shown your wisdom and brilliance in leading us so far,” he said at a “Leader-With-The People” session attended by Abang Johari and other state dignitaries at the community hall here today.
Uggah said Abang Johari’s past approvals of projects were not mere announcements. While many have been implemented, others had just started, he said, adding that by contrast, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government had yet to deliver the many promises they had made.
He said the inability to deliver or keep promises had made lives difficult for the rakyat.
On agriculture, Uggah, who is the Minister of the Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development, said an area stretching from Betong Division to Sarikei Division had been declared as the state food basket.
He, however, said more agro parks needed to be created to spearhead its development.
He also said there was a need for a good drainage system so that the huge peat soil area there could be better managed for agriculture.
On another matter, Uggah thanked Abang Johari for providing airfare subsidies to Sarawak students returning home for all major communal celebrations.
He said some 1,000 students had applied for the subsidies in conjunction with the recent Chinese New Year celebration.
At the gathering. some 470 Native Customary Rights (NCR) landowners received 686 titles to their land from Abang Johari. — DayakDaily
