We now have full control of our own destiny, says Masing on GPS’ registration

Tan Sri Dr James Masing

KUCHING, Nov 22: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing is delighted that the registration of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has been officially approved by Putrajaya.

He said the coalition of four Sarawak-based parties was now ready to move forward to make its presence felt by all Sarawakians.

“It is Sarawak’s boat! Made in Sarawak. Paddled by Sarawakians. Captained by the president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) and the Chief Minister of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, a son of one of the originators of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“And with him in PBB is its secretary-general and MP for Kapit Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, the grandson of Tun Jugah — also one of the originators of the MA63,” he said in a statement today.

Masing pointed out that the members in this local alliance are all Sarawakians, with no other motive than to work for the betterment of Sarawak.

“It is my ardent hope that all Sarawakians give their full support to GPS because, for once since Independence 55 years ago, we now have full control of our own destiny.

“We have nobody to blame but ourselves if we fail to steer Sarawak to where we want,” he said. — DayakDaily
