KUCHING, July 29: Some 30 per cent of Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd’s staff has been placed under lockdown following the enforcement of Enhanced Movement Control Orders (EMCO) in their respective residential areas.

This will affect the municipal waste collection team and manpower for two weeks across the city under the municipalities of Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), Kuching South City Comission (MBKS) and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).

“Trienekens Sarawak is seeking the public’s patience and understanding as waste collection services under DBKU, MBKS and MPP will be affected in the next two weeks due to the impacted manpower availability.

“In view of the affected waste collection services, Trienekens will be placing Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) containers in designated areas to facilitate household waste disposal from the public,” Logistics and Services manager Mason Barau said in a statement.

Though waste collection services in most areas may experience delays in collection, Mason assures the public that the company will work tirelessly to quickly address these issues.

“We are doing all we can to provide the best possible service for the public in these extremely difficult circumstances and where we are not able to service a collection area as scheduled, we aim to clear the waste as soon as possible. We trust that our collection services will recover within two to three weeks, as our staff are gradually released from quarantine and as Enhanced Movement Control Orders are lifted,” he added.

Members of the public are appealed to extend a helping hand by reducing their waste generation where possible, utilising the RoRo containers provided and to ensure all their waste is tightly packed to avoid spillage.

The RoRo containers will be available for public use effective July 30 in DBKU areas, namely Muara Tebas bin centre; Lorong Cahaya Aman 2, Taman Puteri; Taman Semariang Aman (opposite Cahaya Permai junction); Lorong C, Kampung Tunku; Jalan Temenggong Haji Gobil (behind the Petra Jaya fire station) and Lorong 6 Boulevard, Metro City.

Over in MPP’s jurisdiction, the public may find RoRo containers at Lorong 7, Jalan Belatok, Taman Malihah.
