Warmth of Ramadan felt as 60 Song residents gather to break fast with Kapit MP

KUCHING, Mar 1: The spirit of Ramadan was felt strongly in Kampung Gelam, Song, on Saturday evening (Feb 28) as Minister of Works and Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi joined the Song District Islamic community for an iftar (breaking of fast) ceremony at the Nurul Islam Mosque compound.

Organised by the Nurul Islam Mosque Management Committee, the gathering brought together about 60 residents in a warm atmosphere of simplicity, gratitude, and brotherhood, reported the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

Before the call to Maghrib prayers, Nanta took time to mingle with attendees, exchanging greetings and sharing light moments with community members.

In his brief address, he extended his heartfelt wishes to Muslims in Song for a blessed fasting month and a meaningful Ramadan.

He further expressed hope that the holy month would continue to strengthen unity, nurture compassion, and bring prosperity to the community.

Also in attendance were Katibas assemblyman, Lidam Assan; Kapit Deputy Divisional Resident, Robert Liman; Song District Officer, Harry Bruce Edwin; political secretary to the Minister of Works, Datuk Elvine Runggah; political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Watson Awan; Nurul Islam Mosque Management Committee chairman, Sulaiman Boharie; and Penghulu Abu Bakar Safiee. — DayakDaily
