Warehouse destroyed in early morning fire

MIRI, Jan 29: A double-storey concrete warehouse located in Piasau Industrial Estate here was destroyed completely by fire early Monday morning.

Fourteen firefighters in two fire engines from Lopeng and Miri fire stations were immediately mobilised to the scene after received a distress call over the incident at 4.51am.

Upon arrival at the scene, a huge blaze was seen consuming the building. However, the firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to a nearby ice factory.

The firefighters led by PKPgB Terry Robson and his men remained at the scene throughout morning to extinguish pockets of fire.

It was reported they managed to bring the fire under control at 7.15am.

No fatalities or injuries were reported during the incident.

Fire brigade forensic department personnel were despatched to the scene to investigate the incident.

The actual cause and total losses stemming from the incident have yet to be determined. — DayakDaily
