KUCHING, June 19: Malaysia will have no qualms that Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will make the Dewan Negara a well-respected institution upon his appointment as Speaker of the Senate, says Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
He said Wan Junaidi’s vast experience, knowledge of Parliament and record of service in several ministries in the Federal government make him an excellent choice to take over from his predecessor Tan Sri Rais Yatim.
Snowdan opined it would be a waste of resources if Wan Junaidi retires while he still can contribute his knowledge and energy to the good of Malaysia.
“Being conferred a ‘Tan Sri’ by Yang Di- Pertuan Agong (Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah) recently is testimony to this,” he said in a statement today.
Wan Junaidi is expected to take his oath as the Senate president today.
Snowdan who is also Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (Creative Industry and Performing Arts) and Balai Ringin assemblyman, further said Sarawak and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) are proud of Wan Junaidi as being the sole nominee for the appointment.
“Again, it is a testimony that Sareawak’s contribution to nation building is well recognised,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
